A couple of days ago I wrote a blog post called “Missing Goals“. In the beginning of the year, I had created a goal for myself that I wanted to post every single day for a year. Up until this Saturday I did , but on that day, I missed my first blog post.
Missing this first blog post caused me to reflect on that goal, and see how it was actually going and if I should continue with it. I wrote a long blog post called missing goals, (you should read it!) which details my thoughts on missing my goals, and failure in general.
Also, I said that I’ll take a few days to reflect, and see if I need to make any changes to this blog.
Well, I’ve reflected for a few days, and I am back, I’m ready to write, but with some changes.
I’m going to stop daily posting. I’m going to set a minimum goal for weekly posts to three posts per week, but try to aim for a maximum of 5.
This will allow me to write longer more in-depth posts, and focus on quality over quantity. It will also free up some time in my life so I can focus on other business related ventures.
I think that this simple change will be great for the blog. I’ve noticed that the posts that I spend more time on, get more views and Facebook shares.
On the topic of Facebook shares: There are social sharing buttons at the bottom of each post. Please use them. I used to write for a big financial publisher, who locked my articles behind a paywall. This is good for me and the compaany, as we get paid, but not for the readers, who have to pay to read.
This blog has no ads. No paywall. No nothing. So to grow, and eventually become an income source, I need your help. Share the posts. Now that they are going to be higher-quality, I’m sure it won’t be difficult for you to decide to share.
Facebook sharing really drives traffic and will enable me to continue this blog on my journey, as well as coach you on your journey.
So that’s where I’m at, blog-wise. A minimum of three posts or week, with a target of five. A challenge to you, the reader, is to share a..the posts that you like. Thank you all for the support.
